Alberta Health Care covers annual eye exams for all Albertans between the ages 0-18 and anyone 65 years of age and older. All emergency visits and medically necessary testing is also covered by Alberta Health Care.

Infants/Toddlers (Age: 0-3 years):

  • Every child should have an eye exam by the age of 3
  • eye-bar optometrists will see patients at any age (including babies!)

Kindergarten = Free eyeglasses
eye-bar participates in the Eye See… Eye Learn program offering free eyeglasses to children in kindergarten if they are prescribed by an eye doctor. Learn more.

Children (Age: 4-12 years)

  • Vision is essential for excelling in school, sports and hobbies.
